Updates for the Site

There haven’t been a lot of updates for the site in a while, and sadly there won’t be any major updates happening anytime soon. The main thing we are trying to get updated is the Felon Voting Rights 2020 so that everyone has up to date information on each state. After that we will be doing a large update on the jobs section, most likely breaking it down by city and state. This is a large project to undertake, and we do not have any specific time frame for when it will be done.

As stated, the main project right now is the Felon Voting Rights 2020 update. We feel that change can best be accomplished for ex-offenders through policy. A lot of people struggling with a felony conviction don’t know if they can vote or not. There is a lot of misinformation out there as well. It is our hope that we will be able to help out with that as much as possible.

Other than that, we have lost most of the people that have helped with the site over the past years that it has been running. They have moved on with careers and families, and we wish them all the best. So as of now, it’s back to the original two people running the site. That means that things will move a little more slowly than it has when we had a larger staff on board. We’re sorry for this, and we will try to make as much free time as possible to keep this site up to date and functional.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. Your comments and emails we’re one of the main reasons we kept this running. While we built this website to give others hope that things can and do get better, you have given us hope that the future can be a better place.

    New Jersey is poised to give voting rights to people on Parole and Probation. While carving out those still incarcerated, it is a significant step forward. The bill passed favorably out if committee and scheduled for a floor vote in the Assembly on November 25th. Still has to go through State Senate, but before end of year, New Jersey could return the Fundamental Right to Vote to 83,000 formerly incarcerated people.

    Thank you for your dedication! How do we find out about what jobs we can or can not do ? I got out two years ago and since then I have become doc volunteer badged and have two classes remains to graduate next semester with a degree in Human Resources. My company put me in an HR position last December but unfortunately a week later their attorney came with people systems and took the position away because I am a felon. Their policy you can’t be in HR if a felon. I am also planning on doing a second degree in Nursing an petition The State Board to get my RN once it’s been 5 yrs after my completion Of Sentence. So three more years to go! Will there be any changes in laws as to what jobs felons can do!
