Job Skills Training for Felons

Currently, our free job skill training only offers lessons in building a website. This may change in the very near future. We’ve been contacted by a few other people who would like to create lessons on other skills. At the moment we’re unsure when, or if, these will be added.

For right now, there are classes on building a website. These lessons start from square one, and you don’t need any experience with websites to learn. The goal is that by the end of the lessons, you’ll be able to take this knowledge and make a profit from it. If you have any questions or need clarification on something in a lesson, please use the comments at the bottom of the lessons page. The lesson’s comments will serve as a temporary discussion board until the actual board is running again.

  1. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I was feeling real down but I know ther’s still hope

  2. I think that the system is wrong to not let people have a chance to make their lives more peaceful after making a mistake. If you have commited a crime yrs ago lets say at least 7 and older. I think you should be able to have any career. It seems to me that the people who are clean are causing so much harm and death because they think they can get what they want or they are better. We have a long way to go when it comes to the us understand everybody make mistakes. In other words, let people live and be happy and stop controling. I truly would hire a person who made a mistake before anyone who really did not.

  3. I just found this website today when I was helping a participant in my program (called Windows to Work). I will be passing it along to other participants. My program is to help offenders reenter the workforce, and my focus is to help reduce their barriers so they can find jobs. I am interested in hearing any feedback on what some of you have found that works in programs you have participated in, and what you think might be helpful.

Happy to have you interested in this and wanting to get involved.

  5. I’m an ex-offender with a few glitches in my background. I love IT (Information Technology) and it’s many facets in the workforce. I’d love to truly learn and understand web design and graphics if it’s still offered.

  6. Hello My name is Linda, i became a felon in 2005 and my life has never been the same. i went from making $16.00 dollars an hour, to minimum wage. i speak Spanish and am familiar with portuguese and italian. i have experience in sales , Human resources, collections and customer service. i am a seamstress by heart and enjoy woodworking. im in the process of trying to figure out what i will do with my life. No one will hire me, and i am up to $40,000 in school loans. Every one speaks of continuing your education but how will i ever pay my loans if i cannot get a job. i understand the decisions i made put me here but i am 42 and settled down and law abbiding. i don’t understand why there is not a second chance for me. yet i must pay back my loans but not be a ble to use my schooling to my advantage? i believe everyone makes mistakes and i have paid my dues, but how long will i have to continue to pay for a mistake. The system is broke, how can i feed my family on minimum wage and pay fines and finish school and pay loans>? its a vicious cycle and im starting to loose my faith and hope that i will ever make something of myself.
